Cops Wrongly Call Foul on Paul Pierce

Published | Updated

Paul Pierce of Boston Celtic fame was pulled over for erratic driving at around 3:30 this morning in Vegas, and apparently cops suspected he was driving wasted.

Law enforcement sources tell us Pierce was stopped in front of the Tropicana Hotel and Casino and given not one but two field sobriety tests, plus a breathalyzer for good measure. He passed all three!

Now here's the interesting part. After cops let him go, Paul left his car at the valet and took a cab home. He was not cited or charged.

So three DUI tests, not cited for erratic driving, decides to take a cab and leave his car.....what's up with all that?

NBA Star Busted in Drag

Published | Updated

Dallas Mavericks star Josh Howard has been arrested for a drag racing incident -- rest assured North Carolina, no heels were involved!

He was charged with speeding (94 in a 55), careless and reckless driving, and speed competition, while driving a black Lexus chasing a VW late Thursday night down U.S. 421.

Howard was released from Forsyth County jail, after promising in writing he'd appear in court on Sept. 23. Is breaking a written promise a felony in N.C.?

UPDATE: We're told Howard never had to pose for a mugshot because police had him contained -- but he was never jailed. He signed his promise to appear and was sent packin'.

Neighbor Says He's Boxer's Latest Punching Bag

Published | Updated

In case it isn't obvious, when living next door to a boxer, don't ask him to turn the music down.

Michael Bentt's neighbor, Mark Emerson, allegedly learned this the hard way. In a lawsuit, Emerson claims that Bentt pummeled him after he asked the pugilist to keep the noise down. And prepare to wince as we recount Emerson's damage: "A broken eye socket, a broken cheek bone, two black eyes, a bruised collar bone, numbness in the face, a chronically drooping eye socket and cheek" and on and on and on.

Emerson wants unspecified damages. Bentt's reps didn't respond to a request for comment. We are prepared to duck.

Cop Busted Over Fake Stone Cold Scam

Published | Updated

They don't make 'em real smart in Greensburg, Indiana, do they? A local cop has been busted allegedly for pocketing the cash duped fans forked over for autographs from a fake "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. We'll explain.

According to prosecutors, 37-year-old Greensburg police officer David L. Scudder was called to a local Wal*Mart last month to investigate the phony Austin. When they got there, prosecutors say Scudder asked the suspected fake's "promoter" to hand over $166 -- of his own money. Scudder allegedly gave the man a receipt -- but didn't mention to anyone that he had taken the money. A police report filed days later didn't mention the cash or the receipt -- but claimed the money "was returned to the fans at the scene." That's news to the bilked fans, says the DA, who says none of the victims got their money back.

After an investigation was launched into the incident, Scudder resigned from the force.
