Michael Jordan's Chicago-area mansion was PULLED OFF the auction block today ... but the sellers insist it's NOT due to lack of interest.

Jordan's people had been promoting the auction for weeks -- and even made an 8-minute infomercial to try to stoke interest in the 56,000 square foot property.

But moments before the auction was set to begin, the people in charge of the event announced the auction will be postponed until December 16.

The President of Concierge Auctions issued a statement saying, "While many bidders are already financially qualified and registered, others requested more time to visit the property and consider the purchase. In the best interest of our clients, we agreed to extend the auction date in order to allow them to do so."

The Prez added, "The interest [in the mansion] has been even stronger than we anticipated."

The home has been on the market for a while -- MJ tried to sell the place back in 2012 and asked for $29 mil ... but got no takers ... so he dropped it to $21 mil. Still, no one bit.

Jerry Stackhouse might be the next CHRIS BROWN ... 'cause the NBA star tells TMZ Sports he's considering pursuing a career as a singer -- and he's got the voice to do it.

We were talking music with Stack at LAX yesterday when he gave us an a cappella sample of one of his favorite songs -- “Don’t Think They Know” by Chris Brown ft. Aaliyah.

Dude's got talent.

Everyone knows Stack can sing -- he put his voice on display when he sang the National Anthem at the Nets vs. Bulls playoff game back in April. And he told us he still hits the recording studio all the time.

So, is a Stackhouse album on the way? He's definitely not ruling it out.

Mark Sanchez showed up to the Jets team facility today ... looking like he just got back from a college Spring Break trip to Cancun.

Sanchez's fellow injured Jets teammate Mike Goodson posted a pic showing Mark sporting full Kenny Powers (Season 2) cornrows ... along with the caption, "My bro Mark Sanchez came to work today with cornrows #90sSwag."

A.C. Green is calling BS on the Palos Verdes Police Department ... telling TMZ Sports his NBA championship rings were NEVER stolen from his home and cops got the whole thing wrong.

The whole thing is very bizarre ... but it started back in March when the Palos Verdes Estates police department told the media Green had filed a police report saying 3 of his rings were stolen from his home.

According to police, Green valued each of the gold and diamond rings (2 of which he earned during his playing days with the Lakers and the other was an honorary ring he got in 2009) at $25,000 a pop.

But when we saw Green out in L.A. yesterday and asked him about the investigation -- his response was baffling ... telling us he HAD THE RINGS BECAUSE THEY WERE NEVER STOLEN.

He explained, "Unfortunately, you were misinformed."

Problem is ... the cops were the ones who informed the media in the first place ... based on police reports allegedly filed by A.C. Green.

We called the Palos Verde Estates PD and one of the detectives told us ... the resurfacing of the rings was news to them.

The detective told TMZ Sports, "It was an inactive case because there have been no leads but it is still an open investigation. "

Darryl Strawberry got straight up WORKED by a panhandler on the mean streets of NYC last night ... and TMZ Sports caught the whole thing on video.

The former NY Mets superstar was walking around the Meatpacking District when he was spotted by some fans and the paparazzi ... who stopped Straw for an impromptu photo session.

Straw was a great sport -- and couldn't have been friendlier -- and that's when a panhandler saw a golden opportunity to cash in.

Knowing Darryl wasn't going to stiff him in front of fans and photogs, the man hit up Straw for cash ... and essentially shamed D.S. into opening his wallet.

In the end, the guy walked away with a crisp $20 bill.

Gilbert Arenas tells TMZ Sports ... his NBA playing days are OVER for good ... even though he's still slated to make nearly $40 MILLION from the league.

31-year-old Arenas (who played pro ball in China last year) was leaving Philippe Chow last night when he broke the news ... telling us he's not only done with the NBA -- but might be retiring from pro basketball altogether.

But don't feel bad for Agent Zero -- the last time we spoke to him, he told us he's dabbling in several side-businesses and still has another $38 MILLION coming his way from the $111 million contract he signed with the Washington Wizards back in the day.

Lamar Odom's drug problem is only getting worse -- at least that's how it looks in this video, shot this month and obtained by TMZ, showing Lamar incoherently rapping without his shirt on ... talking about drugs, making money without the NBA, and cheating on Khloe Kardashian.

Lamar appears out of it, rapping about making money off his fragrance "Unbreakable," and how he smokes drugs to make "the pain go away." He even drops Kanye's name.

But the crazy part -- Lamar raps, "And when Khloe's out of town / I still be on the DL." His friend then follows up, "You know what it is / We the QU [Queens] pimps / Ask any of these shorties / We ran through their cribs."

Translation: when Khloe's away, Lamar will play.

As we reported, Lamar's currently training hard in Rhode Island, trying to get his ass back in shape for the NBA -- but drugs are still obviously a big part of his life.

Eat your vitamins and say your prayers brothers ... 'cause TMZ has learned Brooke Hogan is officially single again.

Sources close to Brooke tell us Hulk's daughter ended her engagement to Dallas Cowboys center Phil Costa a few weeks ago ... after he proposed in Vegas back in June.

We're told Brooke realized things had moved way too fast, too soon ... so she decided to call it quits and focus on her music -- before making things official forever.

Our sources say Hogan recently moved back to L.A. to put the finishing touches on her new album ... and she wanted to be closer to Momma Hogan.

Lamar Odom was the life of the party last night in Rhode Island -- buying shots for an entire bar, including a bunch of hot college chicks -- and we got a pic of Lamar with his brand new friends.

Sources tell TMZ, Lamar and a couple buddies dropped by Charlie O's in Narragansett -- where one of Lamar's signed jerseys hangs tall on the wall -- and some sorority girls asked him for a picture.

We're told Lamar declined, saying he couldn't take pics with anyone, but then bought the entire bar shots of Hennessy ... an interesting move for someone who's trying to stay sober.

On their way out, around 12:30AM, we're told the girls asked Lamar one more time for a picture ... and this time he obliged (above). According to sources, Lamar bought the shots and was extremely talkative all night ... but he did NOT drink a drop himself.

Hulk Hogan wants to be apart of WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans ... only problem ... Hulkster told TMZ Sports last night he's not interested in wrestling.

Hulk was surrounded by fans Wednesday night at LAX when we asked if he's gonna be at the 30th anniversary of 'Mania'... and Hogan said he really wants to go.

But don't get your hopes up Hulkamaniacs ... he's not looking to wrestle at the event he made famous ... Hulk says he just wants to take his wife Jennifer 'cause she's never been.

One of Elvis Presley’s most prized pieces of clothing has fallen into the hands of serial fashion offender/NBA commentator, Craig Sager ... and TMZ Sports has the video proof.

Sager was at LaGuardia Airport yesterday when he flashed us an old striped jacket -- and Craig claims it's the actual, authentic jacket The King wore on the cover of his 1957 "Jail House Rock” album.

Sager said he purchased the sport coat from the original designer in Memphis and plans to wear it in an upcoming campaign for Foot Locker.

Craig wouldn't say how much he spent on the suit -- but he did say he's spent a TON of cash on his ugly wardrobe in the past.

In fact, dude says one of his suits cost THE SAME AS A CAR.

Ray Lewis is a scary man ... very scary ... but there's one guy who says he was NEVER afraid of the Ravens linebacker ... Eddie George.

The former Tennessee Titans running back was at LAX last night ... when we asked him about his brutal rivalry with Ray Ray -- and specifically, rumors that he was scared of the guy on the field.

But George's reaction is priceless ... 'cause when he finally stopped laughing ... he told us he respected Ray, but never feared him.

In fact, George recalls several times when HE delivered the punishment to #52 -- and says the proof is on YouTube.

FYI -- Eddie's also ACTING these days ... he's playing Othello at the upcoming Nashville Shakespeare Festival in January and he's even got a cameo in the new movie "Best Man Holiday." Pretty sweet.

Of course, now that he's an actor ... we had to ask -- would he ever go full frontal??

The accuser in the Jameis Winston rape case had NO relationship with the FSU football star before the night of the incident ... she didn't even know him .... sources connected to the alleged victim tell TMZ Sports.

Furthermore ... this photo (above) which is circulating -- showing Winston in an embrace with a blonde woman at a Tallahassee nightclub -- is NOT the accuser.

The lawyer for the alleged victim tells TMZ Sports ... both she and her client have viewed the pic and the woman "is definitely not her."

Winston is now contending that he did have sex with the accuser but it was consensual. The revelation came after DNA testing linked Winston with the woman.
