Lenny Dykstra Officials Re-Opening Investigation Into Fight With Cops

Published | Updated

Lenny Dykstra's allegations that he was beaten to a pulp in his jail cell have struck a chord with officials -- who tell TMZ Sports investigators are re-examining their case.

We broke the story ... Dykstra is suing L.A. County claiming he was ripped out of his bed and attacked by roughly 6 cops for no reason while serving time for bankruptcy fraud in 2012. Lenny claims he lost teeth in the incident.

Cops have acknowledged their was a physical altercation with Dykstra -- but said it went down in a hospital, not a cell, and only after Lenny had attacked 2 medical personnel. They also say Lenny's teeth were NOT damaged.

Officials said the incident was investigated thoroughly and it was determined the cops were justified in their use of force.

But now, in the wake of Dykstra's lawsuit, the Chief Attorney for the L.A. Office of Independent Review confirms investigators are going back through Dykstra’s case to make sure they didn't miss anything the first time around.

And if they find any weaknesses in the case, they'll investigate further.

As for Dykstra, his attorney tells TMZ Sports they now have dental records that can prove the former MLB star suffered tooth damage during the attack.

We're told producers came out first and asked the crowd to cheer ... but when Nick took the floor, the crowd showered him with hate.

At one point, Nick told the crowd, "Go ahead. Boo louder. Get it outta your system!" But the reverse psychology didn't work.

Eventually, Nick tried to pull off a trick shot (with the help of producers) ... but that didn't work either and the booing continued until the crowd got tired.

Hey, keep your head up Nick ... New Yorkers even booed Tim Tebow during a Yankees game back in 2012.

John Harbaugh Unloading Baltimore Castle ... For a Royal Price

With all of the trade rumors floating around this off-season, we expected ONE of the Harbaugh brothers to be moving ... but we didn't expect it would be the one in Baltimore.

We've learned ... Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has just listed his sprawling 2-acre castle-esque property in Baltimore ... and he's asking for a cool $2.1 million.

Problem is ... John paid $2.34 mil when he bought the place back in 2008, according to our friends at Realtor.com ... so there's a damn good chance he could take a hit in the pocket -- unless a bidding war breaks out.

The house is huge -- 8,000 square feet, 6 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms with a wishing well and a fire pit in the backyard. Plus, the estate is only 25 minutes from the stadium.

As for John's brother Jim -- the head coach in San Francisco -- so far, haven't heard anything about him selling his home. Guess that might depend on how the 49ers do this year.

Boomer Esiason Apologizes to Mets Player 'My C-Section Comment was Insensitive'

Published | Updated

Boomer Esiason says he's "truly sorry" for any pain he's caused Mets player Daniel Murphy ... for suggesting his wife should have had a C-section before the season so he wouldn't have missed any games for the birth of his child.

Esiason has been under fire for the comments he made on his radio show yesterday -- in which he acknowledges Murphy had the legal right to take paternity leave, but says it's more important for the child for athletes to WORK than miss games.

Now, Boomer is apologizing to Murphy -- saying he's sorry for making comments that put Murphy's life "under a spotlight."

"That is my fault for uttering the word ‘C-section’ on this radio station," Boomer said.

Esiason continued, "No man should have to go through that. And certainly Daniel Murphy, who we both admire much as a baseball player as anybody else -- and all I can say is that I truly, truly, feel terrible about what I put them through. So for that I certainly apologize."

We should note that while Boomer says it's important for fathers to be there for the birth of their kids -- he never backs off his belief that athletes should NOT miss a day after the delivery and should do whatever it takes to get their asses back on he field.
