Former New York Knicks star Larry Hughes is being questioned by the NYPD as part of a sexual assault investigation ... this according to the NY Daily News.

TMZ Sports had previously confirmed with the NYPD that investigators were looking into an incident at the Trump Soho in NYC ... and now, the Daily News reports Hughes is the suspect.

The NYPD has confirmed ... it is currently conducting a sexual assault investigation into an alleged incident at the Trump SOHO early Friday morning ... and multiple sources tell TMZ Sports there is a possible NBA connection.

As far as the allegations, cops aren't saying much ... only that the NYPD Special Victim's Unit is looking into the situation.

So far, cops have not released the names of any suspects or persons of interest.

However, we're being told at least one of the people named in the investigation is a current or former NBA player.

Georges St-Pierre may have a DARK SIDE ... 'cause the UFC legend tells TMZ Sports he has a secret desire to be a villain ... a la Darth Vader.

GSP was crutching around L.A. after undergoing surgery for a torn ACL when we started talking about his cameo in the new "Captain America" flick ... and asked him if he had any desire to play a superhero on the big screen.

St-Pierre said he's always been a huge "Star Wars" fan -- and would love to appear in one of the upcoming flicks ... but only if he can be a BAD GUY!!

The team that eats together, WINS together -- at least, that's what the Clippers are hoping for because the entire squad got together for a pre-playoffs dinner last night ... and TMZ Sports has the footage.

Blake Griffin, Matt Barnes, Big Baby Davis and the rest of the squad met up at Mastro's Steakhouse in Beverly Hills ... where Barnes explained that it wasn't a celebration, but rather a preparation.

Heavy metal god Alice Cooper says golf isn't just a hobby -- it's his obsession -- and admits that "there was a time when I really considered [turning pro]."

Cooper has a killer reputation on the links -- considered one of the best celebrity golfers alive (he even has a single-digit handicap) ... and his game is so strong, people have often suggested he could hang with the pros.

But yesterday in NYC, Cooper admitted he considered making the leap to the pro level -- but realized as good as he is, the pros are just in a "different world."

Still. Cooper says the golf talent in the celebrity world is STRONG -- and names a couple of heavy hitters you may never have guessed who are actually pretty handy with a club.

Ex-L.A. Lakers player Smush Parker is adamant ... he did NOT slug a 16-year-old high school kid in the face during a pickup game in NYC this week -- claiming it was just a hard foul.

Parker has been under fire after reports surfaced that he got into it with prep star Wolfgang Novogratz last week -- and punched the kid in the face during a heated exchange.

But Parker's manager James Hunt says it's all B.S. -- claiming there WAS a hard foul between the two ... but no punch was ever thrown.

"Smush did not punch him in the face. It wasn't no assault or anything like that. It was a hard foul. He didn't hit anybody."

In fact, Parker believes the kid's father -- who happens to be the host of the HGTV show "House By Novogratz" -- is intentionally trying to blow the incident out of proportion to get some publicity for his son.

"The kid's father is trying to use Smush's name as a stepping stone to promote his son to be recruited by these high level Division 1 colleges," Hunt says.

Nancy Grace is being BLACKBALLED by the WWE over the way she covered the death of the Ultimate Warrior ... with superstars (past and present) being warned stay off her show -- OR ELSE!

Grace most recently enraged WWE officials when she had Diamond Dallas Page on her HLN show and strongly insinuated that Warrior's death was the result of steroid and drug abuse.

In fact, she even brought a doctor on the show -- who never treated Warrior -- to speculate that steroids and drugs directly led to the deaths of scores of young wrestlers.

She even scrolled a list of names -- which included Owen Hart -- who died during a freak accident on the set ... which had NOTHING to do with drugs or 'roids.

Now, we're told WWE is circling the wagons to ostracize Grace -- and though they haven't sent any official memos, we're told there's a strong word going around the grapevine that anyone connected to the brand should STAY AWAY from Nancy if they wanna keep a working relationship.

... and that's the bottom line.

Manny Pacquiao didn't waste any time spending his new post-fight fortune -- TMZ Sports has learned he immediately dropped $20k on a clothing shopping spree for his 50-PERSON entourage ... at Nordstroms!

Die-hard NY Knicks fan Michael Rapaport believes if anyone has a shot of fixing Lamar Odom -- it's Phil Jackson ... and his proof is Dennis Rodman.

Rapaport -- who was awesome on "Justified" this season -- was out in NYC yesterday when he told us why he's PUMPED about Lamar joining the squad.

"Lamar Odom is a talent," Michael said ... noting that his relationship with the Zen Master will decide whether he's a failure or a success in the Big Apple.

Michael says Phil has always done a great job of getting people who have "gone rogue" to come back around again -- and pointed right to The Worm.

"Dennis Rodman. If [Phil] got him in check ..."

Darren Sharper's future just got even bleaker ... because he's been shut down AGAIN on his plea for bail ... which means he will continue to call jail home ... and maybe for a long time.

Chad Johnson is going to his special place to celebrate signing with the Canadian Football League today ... under the Golden Arches.

Fresh off signing a deal with the Montreal Alouettes, Johnson tells TMZ Sports he is going to mark the occasion with a nice cigar ... and a trip to McDonald's. As for his order of choice ... Chad tells us he's going with a #1 meal (Big Mac!!!) with extra cheese and no onions.

4:45 PM PT -- Donovan's employer, FOX Sports says it's discussed the DUI arrest with him ... and is “convinced that he understands the gravity of his offense and is sufficiently contrite."

The FOX Sports spokesman added ... "The legal process has been concluded and we plan no further disciplinary action at this time.”

Donovan McNabb served ONE DAY in an Arizona jail Wednesday stemming from a DUI arrest back in January ... TMZ Sports has learned.

According to the police report, obtained by TMZ Sports, McNabb was pulled over in Maricopa County on December 15, 2013 for doing 81 in a 65 in his 2010 Grey Land Rover at 3:08 AM.

Rick Fox is no Lamar Odom ... or even Kris Humphries -- telling TMZ Sports he would NEVER marry Eliza Dushku on a reality TV special ... but his son says he should strongly reconsider!!!

Rick and his 19-year-old son Kyle were out in L.A. the other night when we asked if they supported AJ McCarron's decision to document his upcoming wedding to Katherine Webb on a reality series.

Rick made it clear ... a reality wedding is NOT in his future -- but that's when his son started pointing out some of the benefits of a televised wedding ... some of which were pretty solid.

It all led up to a funny moment ... when Rick turns to Kyle and jokingly says, "I'm just more concerned about the whole ... you encouraging me to get married!"

The bloody boxing trunks Manny Pacquiao wore during his victory over Timothy Bradley this weekend have sold at a charity auction for a cool $40,000 ... TMZ Sports has learned.

9:27 AM PT -- The Cleveland County District Attorney's Office in OK says it will NOT pursue criminal charges against Frank Shannon ... based on the conflicting accounts and because the alleged victim did not want to move forward with a case.

Oklahoma University football superstar Frank Shannon has told police he DID NOT rape a sorority girl at his apartment back in January ... despite allegations from the woman.

Shannon -- the leading tackler on the Sooners -- told police he was involved in a sexual situation with the female student ... but claims she was the initiator, and even removed her own clothes.

But Shannon claims things came to a grinding halt when he asked her if she was on her period. She allegedly said "No" but an argument ensued and Shannon says he got up and went to the bathroom.

The woman tells a different story ... according to the incident report, obtained by The Oklahoman, she claims Shannon came up from behind her in the apartment, pulled down her pants and attempted to have sex with her.

The woman claims Shannon asked if she was menstruating and she said "Yes" -- and that's when he went to the bathroom and she left the apartment.

The report says the woman had texted a friend from Shannon's apartment saying she was raped.

According to the Oklahoman, the alleged victim also sent a text saying the "last thing" her sorority needs is negative media attention involving a football player.

Shannon reportedly told cops that she was trying to either set him up from the beginning or was simply embarrassed that he wouldn't have sex with her that night and this was her way of getting back at him.

Despite the allegations, no charges have been filed against Shannon.
