Hollywood badass Danny Trejo -- aka Machete -- was a real-life ass-kicker behind bars ... telling TMZ Sports he was a champion boxer of every prison he was in ... "and I was in all of 'em."

Trejo's story is legendary ... after going in and out of California prisons growing up, he got a job as a boxing trainer on an Eric Roberts movie ... which launched an incredible movie career of his own.

We got Trejo out in L.A. Wednesday night -- and he told us what it was like to fight in prison ... and it's just as rough as you'd think it would be.

Trejo also raves about Floyd Mayweather -- saying whether you love him or hate him, you have to respect him as one of the ALL-TIME GREATS.

The wife of L.A. Dodgers pitcher J.P. Howell is calling for a changeup -- filing divorce docs after 7 years of marriage ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Howell -- who's in the middle of a 2-year $11 million contract -- married former sports reporter/author Heather Hennessy Howell back in 2009. They were college sweethearts at USC.

But the love story's over ... Heather filed docs in L.A. County Superior Court citing irreconcilable differences.

Seems things soured recently ... they posed for a coupley pic together just last month.

Heather lists the date of separation as Monday, August 8th ... the same day she filed the docs.

She's also asking for spousal support and wants to drop "Howell" from her name ASAP.

The couple has no kids together.

A Dallas police organization says the NFL should reconsider rejecting the Cowboys' request to honor fallen cops with a helmet decal this season ... telling TMZ Sports "We are extremely upset by their decision."

We spoke to Sergeant Demetrick Pennie, president of the Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation, who tells us the league should use its platform to support their cause.

"The NFL had an opportunity to be leaders and advocates for change in law enforcement," Pennie says.

"These teams and players have a spotlight on them and could have helped bring awareness. If a uniform policy is keeping them from this, then why don’t they have every team wear the decals?"

Pennie says he appreciates the Cowboys' attempt, saying "they understand the sacrifices these officers made and we're happy they wanted to honor these heroes.”

David Beckham's 17-year-old son made a fashion statement on the way into a spin class in L.A. Wednesday -- rocking a pink gay pride tank top ... with the socks to match!

Brooklyn Beckham and his world-famous father hit up SoulCycle for a little father/son workout sesh ... followed by a smoothie at the famous Earthbar cafe.

As for the shirt, it's from Palm Springs Gay Pride in 2011 ... so, we're guessing Brooklyn was just going for more of a retro look.

James Woods says he's absolutely fascinated by that 2006 photo of Michael Phelps signing a picture for a 9-year-old Katie Ledecky ... saying it's inspiring how she's now dominating in the same Olympics as her hero.

Woods is a big Phelps fan -- telling TMZ Sports he knows him from various poker games over the years and says he's one of the nicest people out there.

Jon Jones was just ordered to go back to school ... sentenced to complete an aggressive driving course as part of his punishment from his alleged drag racing incident in New Mexico.

As we previously reported, Jones was pulled over on March 24 in Albuquerque after an officer says the UFC superstar was drag racing on his way home from an MMA gym.

Jon called BS on the cop -- and began to cuss him out ... calling the officer a "f***ing pig" and a "liar."

Jones was issued several citations for unlawful drag racing, unlawful exhibition driving, unlawful use of modification of exhaust systems, failure to maintain traffic lane and improper display of registration plate.

But moments ago, Jones agreed to a deal with prosecutors -- pleading guilty to just unlawful use of modification of exhaust systems and improper display of registration plate.

In exchange he was ordered to complete 60 hours of community service and complete an aggressive driving course.

If he does not complete his terms, he faces up to 90 days in jail.

The good news for Jon ... he already has 51 hours of community service completed and a rep for the UFC star says he already knocked out the driving course!

In case you needed a reminder ... Justin Bieber's still pretty good at hockey.

JB popped up at a random hockey practice in L.A. on Wednesday -- sporting a #32 Jonathan Quick Kings jersey -- to put his skills to the test and show off for the 'gram.

Bieber admitted that his "through the legs dangle didn't work" ... but hey, it's a lot better than most people can pull off.

The sports community is reeling from the sudden, shocking death of ESPN's John Saunders -- and Wednesday night, Ahmad Rashad explained why he was so loved.

"I did know him personally. He was a wonderful, beautiful man."

NFL legend Tony Gonzalez also talked about the broadcaster -- saying, "He was part of my childhood."

"It's a sad day."

UFC star Julianna Pena just RIPPED into Ronda Rousey -- saying, "No one cares about [her] and her fat arms anymore."

So, what set Pena off?

We asked her about Amanda Nunes saying she would gladly fight her ... if she couldn't book Ronda. And while Pena says she understands from a business perspective, she thinks Ronda's days as the top dog in UFC are over.

As for Ronda's long-awaited return, Pena says she's heard rumblings that RR will fight again before the end of the year ... but adds, "I'll believe it when I see it."

Until then, Pena says it's only a matter of time until she crushes Nunes and takes the belt.

"They can delay me but they can't deny me."

LSU superstar Leonard Fournette is apologizing for the 1-on-1 incident with his teammate Garrett Brumfield -- but insists the incident was NOT a real fight.

"I would like to apologize to everyone, but we were not fighting, just slap boxing," Fournette tweeted.

"But again I would like to apologize to everyone again."

Sorry, LSU ... Billy Bob Thornton ain't buyin that "horseplay" argument -- saying the Leonard Fournette video sure looks like a fight to him.

Thornton joined the guys on the "TMZ Sports" TV show (airs tonight on FS1) and said he was pretty confident that the footage in the video was 100% real.

Scottie Pippen and his wife are FURIOUS at Christian Laettner -- claiming he still hasn't paid them back the hundreds of thousands of dollars he owes them ... and they want to collect, NOW.

Around 2007, Pippen invested a ton of money with Laettner and his partners to buy a stake in the Memphis Grizzlies ... but when the deal fizzled, he never got his money back.

Pippen sued Laettner and his partners and was awarded a $2.5 million judgment -- but has NOT received the full amount.

Enter Larsa Pippen ... who took the beef public this week -- tweeting at Laettner, "Hey @laettnerbball are you ever gonna pay us back homie?"

"It's crazy you've been f***ing us around forever @laettnerbball. Homie how do u sleep at night."

Sources connected to the case tell us Laettner still owes at least $600,000 to the Pippens.

Yeah, we'd be pissed too.

One of Floyd Mayweather's gigantic bodyguards has been accused of roughing up a restaurant patron during a heated altercation over the weekend -- and it all culminated in a citizen's arrest.

TMZ Sports has learned ... Mayweather and his security team hit up Hot N Juicy Crawfish in Vegas on Sunday afternoon.

Sources tell us ... a verbal altercation broke out between Mayweather's team and a male/female couple at a nearby table, who were teasing Floyd that they were Pacquiao fans.

We're told things escalated when the couple whipped out their cell phones and began shooting video of Floyd's crew.

The couple claims a bodyguard, who goes by the name Big Pat, grabbed their phone away and wouldn't give it back ... and pushed the man in the process.

The Henderson PD confirms they were called to the scene and the alleged victim told them he wanted to make a citizen's arrest ... which essentially means he wants to press charges for battery.
