Antonio Gates Philip Rivers Is SOOOOO Rich ... Doesn't Need Gifts From Me!

Published | Updated

Antonio Gates is 3 TOUCHDOWNS AWAY from breaking Tony Gonzalez's career TD record for a tight end. So, we had to ask ... are you getting Philip Rivers a gift when you take the crown?!

The short answer -- HELL NO!

And why not? Gates points to the "gift" the Chargers already got the QB last year -- an $84 MILLION contract extension.

Gates says PR is like a brother to him -- and he respects the hell out of the guy -- but there's no sense in dropping a ton of cash on a guy who can buy whatever he wants.

Miami Dolphins Stadium Brawlers Banned ... Season Tix Revoked

Published | Updated

The Miami Dolphins say they have positively identified the scumbags who attacked a family of 49ers fans at Hard Rock Stadium this weekend ... and have revoked their season tickets.

The video of the fight went viral -- showing a gang of Dolphins fans brutally attacking various family members including a man who verbally warned that his grandchildren were with him. The men also came dangerously close to striking a child who was sleeping on a woman's shoulder.

The Dolphins had said they launched an internal investigation into the incident -- and have taken swift action against the men involved.

"We conducted an immediate internal review of the situation and have identified the season ticket members who were involved in the incident," a Dolphins spokesperson tells TMZ Sports.

"Their season tickets have been revoked and they have been banned from the stadium."

"We work hard to remind fans that we want this to be a safe environment and this type of behavior and conduct is not acceptable."

Snoop Jeff Fisher's a Sorry Ass Loser ... FIRE HIS ASS!

Published | Updated

Snoop Dogg is pulling NO PUNCHES -- siding with Eric Dickerson in his war against the L.A. Rams ... and calling for the team to fire "sorry as f**k" head coach Jeff Fisher.

The rap legend just went off -- saying the Rams are disgraceful for allowing Fisher to unofficially ban E.D. from the sidelines while allowing celebrities like himself and Britney Spears to roam free.

He called Dickerson a legend and says he deserves all access to the team -- FOREVER -- and should be allowed to criticize the organization because he's earned the right.

Stop reading, start watching ... it's much more entertaining when Snoop says it.

ATL Falcons' Desmond Trufant Teases Possible 2016 Return ... Though Highly Unlikely

Published | Updated

Atlanta Falcons superstar cornerback Desmond Trufant is hinting that he could return to the field THIS SEASON should the team make a deep run in the playoffs ... but it's a MAJOR long shot.

Trufant landed in L.A. early Tuesday -- after the team placed him on injured reserve due to a bad pectoral injury. He's expected to undergo surgery either today or Wednesday.

Here's the thing ... when we asked him if there was a shot he could come back this season, he didn't say no ... instead telling us, "We'll see."

We looked into it and technically there's a chance. Our NFL sources tell us he'd be eligible to return for the Super Bowl if the team makes it that far ... AND if the Falcons don't pull any other player off the IR before then.

However, our Falcons sources tell us it's HIGHLY UNLIKELY ... because the surgery typically sidelines players for several months and the odds of Trufant being healthy enough to play by Feb. 5 are slim.

Still, we're told the guy has a crazy work ethic and at the very least should be back killin' it for the Falcons next season.

Corey Dillon Bengals Need Coaching Change Too Talented to Keep Losing

Published | Updated

Ex-Bengals star Corey Dillon says it's time for the Bengals to move on from coach Marvin Lewis ... 'cause the roster is WAY too talented to continue comin' up short year after year.

TMZ Sports spoke with Dillon -- a 4x Pro Bowler -- about the Bengals' disappointing 3-7-1 record ... and it's clear he's ready to see a new leader on the sidelines.

"If you got talent and it's not getting processed into the playoffs and winning playoff games, you gotta start looking at your staff."

FYI -- Lewis has been Cincinnati's head coach since '03 ... but has never won a playoff game.

"I done won more playoff games in 3 years with the Patriots than he done won [in 13 with Cincinnati]."

Dillon says he's not hatin' on Lewis -- he just thinks it's time for a "fresh start."

Jerry Jones' Son Toughest Decision I Ever Made? ... Benching Tony Romo

Published | Updated

It wasn't passing on Johnny Manziel ... it wasn't the Greg Hardy situation -- Dallas Cowboys bigwig Stephen Jones says the hardest decision he's made in the front office is benching Tony Romo.

Stephen -- the Cowboys CEO and Director of Player Personnel (and also Jerry's son) -- did a video Q&A with fans moments ago ... and was asked to name the most difficult Cowboys decision he's had to make.

Without hesitation, Stephen explained why forcing Tony to take a back seat to Dak Prescott was especially tough for him.

By the way, he did the interview with a painting of Tony Romo over his left shoulder.

Jones keeps referencing Dak's "hot hand" -- which makes it seem like he's ready to turn right back to Tony if that hand happens to cool off.

Also, interesting Stephen is taking credit for the move ... and not head coach Jason Garrett.

But we knew that already ... right?

WE'RE STILL NOT COOL

Looks like the band isn't getting back together just yet ... 'cause Charles Barkley says his chilly friendship with Michael Jordan hasn't been re-warmed after all.

Barkley appeared on "The Dan Le Batard Show with Stu Gotz" on ESPN radio and spilled some Hall Of Fame tea ... saying the picture of him and Michael side hugging last month was nothing more than a photo op.

"We just happened to be at the same place at the same time. I love him like a brother but we are not back to where we used to be."

The third man in the photo, Kenny Smith, had told TMZ Sports Barkley and Jordan did in fact bury the hatchet that day ... but clearly, it ain't that buried.

As for the origin of the beef, Barkley says Michael got upset at criticisms CB made publicly about MJ's performance as the chairman of the Charlotte Hornets.

Barkley says he misses his friend -- but he's a professional analyst and won't apologize for doing his job.

Oscar Robertson Russell Westbrook's a Hall Of Famer ... But Don't Compare Us

Published | Updated

Time to clear out some space in Springfield ... because just 8 years into his career, Russell Westbrook is already a LOCK for the Basketball Hall of Fame ... so says NBA legend Oscar Robertson.

FYI, Westbrook is averaging a triple-double this season -- which is incredibly impressive considering the only other player to carry that average further into the season is Robertson!

So, we reached out to Oscar to get his thoughts on Russ ... and needless to say, he's VERY impressed -- saying there's "no doubt" Westbrook will join him in the Hall.

As for comparisons ... Oscar says Russ is his own player -- but one HELL of a player at that.

Oscar says there's only one thing holding Westbrook back ... but he's confident Thunder execs are working to remedy the problem.

Eric Dickerson Blasts Jeff Fisher Don't Compare Me to Britney Spears!!!

Published | Updated

Eric Dickerson says he will NEVER go to another Rams game as long as Jeff Fisher is the coach ... and part of it has to do with Britney Spears.

The Rams legend finally revealed it was Fisher who called him up and told him the team doesn't want him on the sidelines at games ... over public criticisms Eric has made about the team.

So, what does Britney Spears have to do with it?

Fisher apparently tried to tell E.D. he wanted more positivity from sideline VIPs -- like Eddie George and Britney Spears, who was on the sidelines at Rams practice earlier this month.

Dickerson didn't like that ... at all.

"I'm thinking in my mind, I don't give a DANG dang about Britney Spears," Dickerson said on the Jason Smith Show on Fox Sports Radio.

"Britney Spears don't know anything about football! She can't run a 47 gap."

"I like Britney Spears too, but I don't care about no Britney Spears! I don't wanna hear that crap!"

Rams management says the whole thing is a giant "misunderstanding."

No word on when Britney will make her return to the Rams sidelines.

Here's Zendaya and Odell Beckham Jr. taking in the Knicks game in NYC together Monday night ... once again giving us hope that one of the world's dopest potential couples could become a thing.

You might remember ... the two kicked it at a Grammy party (along with Zendaya's dad) earlier this year ... and it seemed OBJ was doing something he hasn't done since high school -- trying out.

Zendaya eventually said the two decided to go the "just friends" route ... but the kids looked pretty cozy courtside at the game last night ... and hung out WITHOUT her dad on duty ... although mom was in tow.

Colombia Plane Crash Soccer Team Survivor Instagrammed Before Crash

Published | Updated

One of the survivors of the Colombian plane crash Instagrammed shortly before boarding the plane that went down -- showing him smiling and laughing with a soccer teammate before the unthinkable occurred.

The man with the beard is Alan Ruschel -- a defender on the Chapecoense soccer team, based out of Brazil. The team was set to play in the finals of the Copa Sudamericana on Wednesday.

Ruschel Instagrammed with his teammate, Danilo Padilha, while aboard the first leg of their trip -- before they got on the charter flight that crashed en route to Medellín, Colombia.

Padilha survived the initial crash, but later died at a nearby hospital.

Ruschel reportedly suffered head injuries in the crash -- but is said to be alive.

The plane, which took off from Bolivia, contained 81 passengers -- including players, journalists and others. It reportedly suffered electrical failure just before it was supposed to land near the airport in Medellin, Colombia.

Miraculously, rescuers found 6 survivors in the wreckage -- 3 players, 2 crewman and 1 journalist. 71 people have been confirmed dead.

According to reports, Lionel Messi and the Argentina national soccer team flew on the exact same plane just 20 days ago to travel to a match in Brazil.
