Charles Oakley Admits Drinking Before Altercation 'But None in the Garden'

Published | Updated

Charles Oakley says he DID drink alcohol before things exploded at Madison Square Garden Wednesday night ... but insists he was not drinking INSIDE the arena.

The Knicks legend sat down with FOX 5 in NYC and told the reporter before the interview that he believed the team was trying to portray him as a guy who was drunk and out of control at the time of the incident.

The reporter followed up on the claim when the camera was rolling ... and Oakley admitted to having "a couple drinks" before the game.

But Oakley seems to scoff at the suggestion alcohol had anything to do with the incident.

So, when we saw KC at LAX Thursday, we had to ask how she felt about the possibility of moving to the Big Apple.

She did a good job of playing it cool ... but admitted there's already a "Jets connection" -- another famous couple they became friends with back in Nashville.

THEY MESSED UP

Another NBA superstar is going after the Knicks ... this time it's Tracy McGrady who says "a savage" like Charles Oakley deserves to be treated better.

McGrady and Oakley actually played together back in the day -- they were teammates on the Toronto Raptors. Tracy still refers to him as "my guy."

Bottom line -- he thinks that Oakley was completely mistreated during the incident at MSG ... and can't believe the organization would humiliate the guy in front of all the kids in the stands.

The Knicks have said Oakley's a liar who's making up facts about that incident -- clearly, Tracy ain't buyin' that.

Steve Francis Ordered to Wear Ankle Monitor ... After Violating Bond

Published | Updated

Steve Francis is the new Lindsay Lohan -- 'cause he was just ordered to wear an alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet after violating the terms of his bond.

The trouble all stems from the ex-NBA star's drunk driving arrest back in November -- when cops say he was driving around Houston while hammered and in possession of weed.

At the time, Francis was released on bond -- and was ordered to NOT drink a drop of alcohol. He was also ordered to put a breathalyzer device in his car.

But, officials say he blew off his blowing obligations and didn't use the device -- a violation of the terms of his bond.

He appeared in court Thursday, where the judge dropped the hammer by ordering him to wear a SCRAM bracelet -- which constantly monitors alcohol consumption. It also has a GPS tracking device (he's not allowed to leave Texas).

If Francis doesn't get his new accessory by tomorrow, the judge says she will issue a warrant for his arrest.

Stay tuned ...

NY Knicks Charles Oakley Is LYING ... Dozens Witnessed 'Abusive Behavior'

Published | Updated

The NY Knicks say Charles Oakley is LYING THROUGH HIS TEETH -- claiming "dozens" of Knicks staff, security and NYPD cops witnessed his "abusive behavior" before he was kicked out of MSG.

The Knicks just issued a new statement in the wake of Oakley's media blitz in which he denied any and all wrongdoing in the Wednesday night incident. The Knicks are calling BS.

"There are dozens of security staff, employees and NYPD that witnessed Oakley's abusive behavior."

"It started when he entered the building and continued until he was arrested and left the building. Every single statement we have received is consistent in describing his actions."

"Everything [Oakley] said since the incident is pure fiction."

Charles Oakley's Ex-Teammate I Would've Fought With Him

Published | Updated

One of Charles Oakley's toughest ex-teammates says he 100% has Oak's back ... telling TMZ Sports had he been with Oakley in the Big Apple Wednesday night there would've been TWO former Knicks in jail.

We talked to Chris Childs ... who played with Oakley on the Knicks teams of the mid-'90s ... and he told us the situation is a disgrace, but he definitely sides with Charles' contention that he did nothing wrong.

"He's never once lied to me. Whatever way he says it happened, I have to believe him."

How committed to Oakley's is he? He told us had he been in the Garden with Oakley last night, he would have certainly had his back PHYSICALLY.

"It's the teammate in me. If I was there, I'd be in jail too."

Childs says he's reached out to Oakley and is waiting for a call back, but that the incident itself is just another example of how far the Knicks have fallen.

"We used to be known for Willis Reed running out of the tunnel, now it's about dragging Oak into it. Our franchise is so broken down, it's sad to see."

BTW -- If you're in an NBA foxhole, the guy you want with you is definitely Childs, just ask Kobe Bryant.

Johnny Manziel CFL Investigating Alleged Workout (Update: Johnny Denies Workout)

Published | Updated

1:05 PM PT -- We spoke with Johnny who says the report is straight-up WRONG -- "I have had no workouts with any team from the CFL."

The Canadian Football League tells TMZ Sports it has launched an investigation into reports Johnny Manziel had an illegal workout with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The issue is simple ... the Hamilton Tiger-Cats currently hold the negotiating rights to Manziel if he wanted to play in the CFL -- so any possible workout would have to go through them first.

But, according to a report out of Canada, Manziel worked out with the Roughriders in Florida in late January.

The Roughriders have called B.S. on the report claiming NO workout took place -- but the CFL says it's investigating nonetheless.

"We are investigating," CFL Communications Director Paulo Senra tells us.

"The Riders tell us that they did not work out Manziel. So at this point, it appears the report is false. Should other evidence come to light, we will deal with it accordingly."

Rick Ross I Puked My Guts Out Drinking With GRONK

Published | Updated

Here's Rick Ross proving that partying with Gronk is almost as dangerous as playing in the NFL ... saying he PUKED HIS GUTS OUT trying to keep up with the Patriots star at a post-Super Bowl turn up.

Ross was on "The Brilliant Idiots" podcast with Charlamagne Tha God & Andrew Schulz when he regurgitated the story of his regurgitation, involving Gronk, a DJ, and too much champagne.

TMZ Sports previously reported The Boss and The Gronk had a MASSIVE turn up at a club in Connecticut Tuesday night ... but we have to admit, we saw no chunks flying from Ross' mouth.

Kudos to not getting any in your beard, bro ...

Charlie Day Green Man Successfully Distracts Player ... At ASU Game

GREEN MAN!!

Charlie Day brought out his neon green bodysuit Wednesday night to serve as the PERFECT addition to Arizona State's "Curtain of Distraction" Wednesday night ... and it worked!!

FYI -- The Curtain is what ASU students do to mess with the opposing team's free throw shooters by revealing someone acting like a jabroni as the player is about to shoot.

"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" fans will easily recognize Charlie's signature tailgating outfit -- and it proved effective, 'cause the Cal player missed his free throw.

As for the game ... ASU could've used some more of Day's distracting skills, 'cause the Bears ran away with the W.
