Snoop Dogg says he was NOT threatening CBS anchor Gayle King over her Kobe Bryant interview -- but the record shows he did make a somewhat threatening comment.
The rapper took to IG Saturday to clarify a video he posted a few days ago criticizing Gayle for an interview she did with WNBA player Lisa Leslie. Snoop made what many perceived as threats against her, but now ... he claims he didn't and means her no harm.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
Snoop says he's a non-violent person and was raised better than that. He insists he was only speaking on behalf of people who felt disrespected by Gayle's interview and was only going from the heart. Snoop says all he wanted to do was point out she was out of line.
What's interesting is that he claims he never threatened her -- and only told her Kobe's fans were "watching" her -- but his own words seem to contradict him here.
What Snoop said verbatim ... "Funky dog head bitch. How dare you try to tarnish my motherf***in' home boy's reputation, punk motherf***er. Respect the family and back off, bitch. Before we come get you." This came after a tirade against Gayle coming after black men, but not being as enthusiastic to grill people about Harvey Weinstein (in Snoop's eyes).
Maybe he was speaking figuratively, but the fact is ... "come get you" can be seen as a threat, even if it isn't meant seriously. Regardless, the criticism appears to have opened the floodgates for others who've allegedly made death threats against Gayle.
.@WNBA legend @LisaLeslie told @GayleKing that Kobe Bryant's legacy is "not complicated" for her despite his 2003 rape accusation.
Gayle herself came out and said the clip was taken out of context from a much longer and wide-ranging interview, and that she felt CBS had screwed her by releasing a clip showing just that part where she pressed Lisa about the rape claim against Kobe.
While Gayle feels the clip was unfairly represented, it doesn't take away from the fact she did push Lisa about that topic -- and felt it was, in fact, appropriate to do so in the moment.
Either way, it sounds like Snoop wants anyone who might've jumped on his bandwagon to stand down and relax. Hear that, everybody?
2:49 PM PT -- Looks like the 'Stoopid' music video featuring the alleged stolen intro has been removed from Tekashi's official YouTube page.
Tekashi 6ix9ine is being sued by a guy who says the rapper jacked his vocals to hype up a track right from the 0:01 mark ... and the proof seems to be online right now.
An artist named Yung Gordon filed suit against T69, his label 10K Projects and others claiming he recorded a radio drop -- a short audio recording used at the beginning of songs to plug a station, company or artist -- for an org. called Take Money Promotions ... which he insists contacted him in 2016 with the request. Yung Gordon says he happily obliged.
Waiting for your permission to load Spotify track.
According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, Gordon claims a couple years later ... Tekashi dropped a song called "Stoopid," which he says featured his 9-second drop -- something he claims he was never asked about, let alone signed off on through Tekashi or TMP.
Now, Gordon says some versions of the song that have since been published to different streaming platforms have actually ditched his drop. Others, however, haven't ... according to the docs. Case in point, per Gordon, is the current 'Stoopid' music vid on YouTube.
The video opens with a guy saying what Gordon claims to have recorded in his lawsuit ... "You already know, it be the boy Yung Gordon // You rockin' with Take Money Promotions // Aye Take Money Promotions, give 'em that new s*** no foo s***. Let's go!!" The TMP plug goes on for about 20 seconds, and blends into the start of Tekashi's song.
'Stoopid' has gone on to rack up over 180 million views and countless streams, meaning it's made a significant amount of money. Gordon wants a cut of that -- he's asking a judge for damages, and for all 'Stoopid' recordings using his voice to be yanked immediately.
Rihanna threw a big bash in the Big Apple Friday night, and A$AP Rocky was nowhere in sight.
RiRi threw the party at Bergdorf Goodman in Midtown Manhattan, and, of course, lots of folks showed. Unclear if she's really dating A$AP, but they've definitely been hanging together since her breakup with Hassan Jameel after 3 years of dating.
As we reported, Rihanna and Rocky showed up together at the YAMS Day benefit concert in Brooklyn. She also went to Sweden to hit up his show. They also showed up together at the British Fashion Awards show. In other words, they've been together a fair amount recently.
It's true ... the Migos rapper hit the court with a bunch of other A-list celebs (including Justin Bieber and Drake) on Thursday ... and the dude put on an absolute clinic!!
Huncho scored from all three levels -- his left-handed jumper was as buttery as an NBA pro's -- and his passing was top notch too!!
It's unclear why all the guys were together for some run at the famous court at Summit NYC in New York City ... but the clips from the games were pretty legendary.
Quavo stole the show scoring 15 points in this vid alone ... but Bieber put his skills on display too -- looking like a mini-Steve Nash!!
Drake also hit some 3s, Sheck Wes knocked down his shots ... and good times appeared to be had by all.
"This game is better than the 2020 NBA Celebrity Game!!!" said NBA skills coach Chris Brickley, who witnessed the game with his own two eyes.
Yeah, heads up, LeBron and Giannis ... good luck topping this next week.
Post Malone found some more real estate on his face to add some fresh ink ... and this tat celebrates one of his biggest albums.
Posty is showing off a new face tattoo of a slightly-bloodied buzz saw, and we're told the singer got the piece Wednesday night following his concert in Kansas City. Check out the pics, it's pretty sick!!!
If the symbol looks familiar, that's because it's from the artwork for PM's "Beerbongs and Bentleys."
Post had a night to remember in KC. As we reported, he raged his face off with the Super Bowl champion Chiefs backstage, and there was an epic dance party and, of course, beer pong!!!
Rich the Kid is stiffing his management company out of millions ... so they claim in a new lawsuit.
The rapper's reps over at Blueprint Artist Management are suing him claiming he's fallen way short of his obligations to pay them under their contract ... according to docs obtained by TMZ.
In the suit, the company claims it's owed more than $3.5 million in fees alone from the deal it struck with Rich the Kid back on May 24, 2017. Thing is ... Blueprint claims Rich hasn't kept his end of the bargain, and although it's repeatedly asked him to pay up ... no dough.
Blueprint's suing for breach of contract and, of course, wants Rich to fork over what is owed. We've reached out to Rich the Kid, so far no word back.
Nicki Minaj is feeling regretful after a nasty exchange of outrageous allegations with her ex, Meek Mill, and she says she's given herself a stern talking to ... yet again.
The rapper was speaking at Wednesday's Pollstar Live! event at The Beverly Hilton -- just hours after beefing with Meek -- when she addressed the heated social media outburst.
She framed her answer as advice for up-and-coming artists. saying it's important to ignore the small stuff and keep your eye on the bigger picture, and specifically in her case ... put out music and shut the hell up.
Clearly, Minaj didn't practice what she was preaching, when she called her ex a clown and accused him of being a woman-beater ... after Meek apparently disrespected her husband, Kenneth Petty, by liking a meme about him.
Nicki says if she could do it over again, she would've fought the urge to go on the attack and suggests every time she does something like this ... 5 minutes later, she wishes she hadn't.
But, she's not one for phony excuses or backtracking either, so she tells the crowd she considers it a lesson in mastering her anger and emotions ... a lesson that bears repeating.
As we've reported ... Nicki and her hubby have been at odds with Meek Mill since running into him at a store last month and shouting at each other. Though things escalated quickly on social media Wednesday, they seem to have cooled considerably after Meek dropped one final tweet denying Nicki's allegations.
If Minaj sticks to her own advice, maybe things will be chill from here on out ... but we wouldn't bet on it.
1:49 PM PT -- TMZ Sports has learned the party didn't end at the Post concert ... in fact, it raged on for HOURS afterward at a local nightclub!!!
UPDATE
Check out new footage we obtained of Kelce, Mahomes and the guys getting after it ... with Travis leading the club in a "F*ck the club up!" chant from the DJ booth!!
Actor Paul Rudd was also hanging with the guys ... although you can tell the week's worth of partying after the Super Bowl was wearing on him a bit.
UPDATE
One clubgoer told us the Chiefs were at the venue until AT LEAST 1:30 AM.
UPDATE
What a time!!!
Patrick Mahomes and even Paul Rudd firing up clubgoers
It's good to be the CHAMPS ... just ask Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and the rest of the Chiefs who all got the super-VIP treatment at the Post Malone concert.
Post -- a HUGE football fan -- invited the Super Bowl champs to his Kansas City show at the Sprint Center on Wednesday where the QB, TE and others players got a special roped-off section all to themselves.
And get this ... Malone -- a hardcore Dallas Cowboys fan -- even paid tribute to the Chiefs by rocking a Mahomes jersey on stage! You can see in the clip, Patrick LOVED it!
Before the show, Post invited the guys and their gals backstage for a private dance party and some beer pong action!!
The most impressive part ... the Chiefs had been drinking HARD since like 10 AM on Wednesday because of the Super Bowl parade in K.C. Mahomes and Kelce were pounding beers on the parade bus like it was water!!!
So, to keep it up for more than 12 straight hours ... man, that's good stuff.
Hopefully they can beat a hangover like they beat those 49ers!!
Nicki Minaj needs to take a seat and get educated on what Rosa Parks went through -- then she'd think twice before dropping lyrics trivializing it ... that's how folks at the Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self Development feel anyway, along with Rosa's nephew.
Anita Peek, Executive Director at the institute who worked closely with Parks prior to her passing, tells TMZ ... if Rosa were alive today, she'd be extremely hurt by Minaj taking her bus protest -- one of the most significant moments of the Civil Rights Movement -- and putting a negative spin on it for a song, even if she was just trying to be clever or funny.
Peek says there is absolutely nothing funny about segregation in America and suggests Nicki should have known better than to include lyrics people would consider disrespectful.
One of those people is William McCauley, Parks' nephew, who tells us ... "It was both heart breaking and disrespectful that Nicki Minaj would have a lyric in a song that can be used negatively when mentioning someone who provided her the freedoms that she has today."
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
We broke the story ... Minaj maintains the line in her upcoming track called "Yikes" -- which says, "All you bitches Rosa Parks // Uh oh, get your ass up" -- was not intended to be disrespectful at all ... nor was the timing of its release.
Though Peek claims Rosa would not agree with Nicki, she says the legendary activist was all about positivity, so she wouldn't condemn the rapper ... she'd try to teach her.
In fact, Peek encourages Minaj to read up on the story of Rosa refusing to give up her seat to a white man ... and just how serious and dangerous of a situation it was for Parks.
She says once Nicki understands how much Rosa endured so her people could sit at the front of the bus -- as demonstrated in this famous photo re-creation -- she'd know why her song is so hurtful.
Future's not about to let his son be put through the legal system with some government-appointed briefcase -- he's getting the best attorneys for the kid and has his back 100%.
Sources close to the Future tell TMZ ... the MC and his baby mama are well aware of their oldest son, Jakobi, getting recently caught up with the law down in Georgia ... but they're already knee-deep in working on his case, including funding his defense.
Jakobi was arrested in a gang bust down in Georgia last month ... where he's reportedly facing charges of criminal gang activity, trespass and the altered ID of a firearm. He was allegedly found in possession of a gun with the serial number scratched out.
The kid's 17 years old, BTW, but could face up to major time behind bars if he's convicted because GA tries 17-year-olds as adults. In the court docs, he reportedly listed himself as indigent and in need of a public defender, but we're told that ain't gonna happen.
Future's definitely got the dough to help his son, and we're told he absolutely intends to by hiring the best lawyers to be there for his own flesh and blood. Dad's covering legal fees.
Jakobi's mother, Jessica Smith, tells us she and Future have been on top of this legal matter, as they're actively involved in his life. She adds, "Our son is a minor and to protect his well being in this trying situation, we ask that everyone please respect our privacy at this time."
1:11 PM PT -- Meek's done with this back-and-forth 'cause he tweeted, "My girl is with me pregnant watching me tweet about my ex is very clownish...Ima exit" but not before making ooooooone last tweet to address one of Nicki's more serious allegations:
UPDATE
For clarification I don’t hit women and I won’t let my interviews be filled with question about her or any situation to do with her when I come out to do press for my new album! No devils tricks
Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill have taken their years-long beef to a whole new level -- or we should probably say a new LOW because they're both leveling disgusting, unproven allegations at each other.
It appears Nicki's fired the first shot ... going off on Meek after seeing that he liked a meme that took a shot at her hubby, Kenneth Petty. Mrs. Petty then posted on IG, calling Meek a clown and alleging he's a woman-beater. She wrote, "U do IT for likes. #TwitterFingers beat women, scared of men."
She made it a double-barrel social media attack by tweeting, "You beat your own sister and taped it. Spit on her & taped it. Kicked me in front [of] your mother and sent her to the hospital. Sucking drake d**k made u feel tough again. Move on."
There's no evidence to support any of those allegations.
It didn't take long for Meek to respond by roping Nicki's convict brother into the mudslinging. As we first reported, Jelani Maraj was found guilty of predatory sexual assault against a child, and just got 25 years to life.
Again, Meek's claims she knew about her bro's crimes and paid for his attorneys ... all unproven.
There's a lot more ... as the war of words continues, but you get the point.
As we've reported ... Nicki and Kenneth ran into Meek at a WeHo store last month. The confrontation nearly came to blows and an epic shouting match ensued.
So, the beef's been simmering since then. It's now on full boil. We've reached out to both camps for comment about the wave of unfounded allegations.
Drake's bucket list is one item shorter Wednesday morning, now that he's got a super blinged out cross around his neck -- "as a Jew." His words.
Drizzy's grin Tuesday night in NYC was almost as bright as the massive diamond-covered cross around his neck ... he was THAT thrilled about his latest piece of jewelry. It might be his most interesting also.
We all know Drake is Jewish -- Bar Mitzvah'd and everything -- so rocking a decidedly Christian symbol, even one reportedly worth 6-figures, is, umm .... not common.
He even acknowledged it when he posted a video with the caption, "I always wanted to rock a icey cross as a jew thanks for making one of my dreams come true ... who dat fuh?"
Drake was clearly NOT thinking about religion, though, while he was shopping for his cross at Jacob & Co.
Jay-Z says he and Beyonce sitting through the "Star Spangled Banner" at the Super Bowl was absolutely NOT a protest of any sort ... it was simply 2 moguls hard at work.
Jay was at Columbia University Tuesday and addressed the video TMZ Sports first posted Sunday ... showing Jay, Bey and Blue Ivy seated as Demi Lovato belted out the National Anthem. A Columbia professor asked him if he remained seated to "convey a signal," and Jay quickly replied, "It actually wasn't. Sorry."
He said Beyonce told him she was thinking what Demi must have been going through in the seconds before starting the Anthem, because, as Jay put it, Beyonce's "performed at the Super Bowl before, and I haven't."
He said they got to their seats and were laser-focused on Demi's performance, but from a business standpoint -- "We immediately jumped into artist mode."
Jay added, "I'm really just looking at the show. The mics start. Was it too low to start?" He went on to make the point he was concerned about the audio and all aspects of the show for a very good reason.
Remember, Jay-Z's Roc Nation is now producing ALL of the entertainment at Super Bowls as part of the deal Jay struck with the NFL last year. That included Demi's Anthem, Yolanda Adams singing "America the Beautiful" ... and the Halftime Show with Shakira and J Lo.
Jay said there was no need for a "silent protest" -- as some speculated they were doing -- because we were "making the biggest loudest protest of all" by selecting such a diverse group of artists to perform at the game.
He also joked about people thinking they had Blue Ivy in on the alleged protest -- saying, there's no way their 8-year-old could possibly play it cool ... especially on camera.
Also worth noting ... the Carters attend sporting events regularly -- Jay was a minority owner of the Brooklyn Nets -- and we're told they always stand for the Anthem. We found photos and video to back that up, including the 2017 NBA All-Star Game.
Sources close to the situation tell us Jay knew revealing the real reason he sat might spark new criticism from Colin Kaepernick supporters -- some of whom took Sunday's video as a sign Jay was backtracking on his "We've moved past kneeling" remark.
We're told he still opted to address it during the Columbia Q&A session because he didn't want anyone to misconstrue his actions.
Nicki Minaj teased a new song invoking Rosa Parks' name -- on the eve of the legendary civil rights icon's birthday -- but the Queen didn't plan to flex when she did and meant no disrespect either.
Sources connected to the femcee tell TMZ ... Nicki's aware of the heat she's been catching from folks after releasing a snippet of a track she's been working on called "Yikes" -- which includes the line, "All you bitches Rosa Parks // Uh oh, get your ass up."
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
Some people found it humorous, but lots of others didn't ... and actually thought it was a slap in the face of a civil rights legend, who would've turned 107 Tuesday.
Fact is ... we're told Nicki was NOT in any way, shape or form attempting to diss the great Mrs. Parks -- she was just using her in what she thought was a clever metaphor aimed at her haters. It's about as simple as that ... our sources say it wasn't a slight at all.
As for the date -- again, right before Rosa's born day -- we're told Nicki didn't arrange that on purpose. It was a coincidence and in hindsight ... we're told maybe bad timing. Our sources say Nicki was excited to give her fans new tunes, and everything came together by chance.
We're told Nicki would never undermine the work Rosa did, and she hopes her fans know that too.
2 Chainz, Offsetand YGshould not be proud of one of their hit songs ... so claims another artist who says the rappers straight-up jacked his work!!!
Solomon Clanton claims in a new lawsuit -- obtained by TMZ -- he released a song called "Proud" way back in 2015 ... 3 years BEFORE 2 Chainz, Offset and YG collab'd on their own track called "Proud."
Clanton -- who goes by the stage name Slugga -- claims in his suit, the 2 songs include similar lyrics and music, including the hook and thematic elements.
Slugga notes the 2 songs have identical hooks, "I'm just tryin' to make my mama proud," as well as the same call-and-response technique in the lyrics and a spoken-word intro.
According to the suit, Clanton also claims the 2 tracks have the same climactic moment and the same 2/4 time signature of two beats per measure.
Clanton wants profits from the Def Jam song, as well as an order from a judge prohibiting 2 Chainz's "Proud" from getting spins.
We reached out to reps for 2 Chainz, Offset and YG ... no word back, so far.
Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott are inching closer to getting back together because they're acting like a rekindling of their relationship is imminent -- so say some of their close friends.
Sources who were at Stormi's 2nd birthday party this past weekend tell TMZ ... Kylie and Trav were giving off major signs of being more than just co-parents to their little one. They looked more like the romantic couple they used to be ... say eyewitnesses who saw them interact.
We're told the two walked in together and were pretty much inseparable the entire time as the party rolled on. Granted, they were both there for Stormi, but our sources say they appeared to be into each other. They threw off the impression ... they're on the verge of a reconciliation.
We should note, however, that there weren't any reports of PDA between Kylie and Travis. That said, we're told their friend group believes something's happening there.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
We're told Travis has been staying at their place in Bev Hills, and Kylie's shacking up in Hidden Hills -- even though they see each other several times a week via Stormi.
As for that crazy elaborate party for the kid ... it ran 'em about $500k, while some attractions/items were sponsored. Nothing but the best for their own, right?
