Ex-MLB Draft Pick Brian Grant Arrested For Murder ... Allegedly Killed Locksmith

Brian Grant -- a 2002 MLB draft pick -- was arrested this week in North Carolina ... after authorities say he murdered a locksmith.

According to the Oak Island Police Department, officers were dispatched to Grant's home on Wednesday over a report of gunfire ... and they discovered 61-year-old Randy Stewart dead from a gunshot wound.

An investigation led authorities to believe Grant was the shooter ... and the former pitcher was taken into custody and booked on a charge of second-degree murder.

Hulk Hogan's former close friend Bubba the Love Sponge is mourning the death of the beloved wrestling star ... saying he has some regrets about their rocky history.

Bubba tells TMZ ... "I’m heartbroken to hear of Terry’s passing. As everyone knows we had our issues and those issues were mostly my fault. I loved him as a friend while he was with us, and will continue to love his memory as a friend going forward."

The famous radio DJ goes on to say, "I’m saddened that I will never be able to tell him how sorry I am for the way I handled things that created the rift between us. I miss my friend and hope he rests in peace."

11:00 AM PT -- The sad news has made its way to the Oval Office ... with President Donald Trump reflecting on his "great friend," Hulk Hogan.

"Hulk Hogan was MAGA all the way -- Strong, tough, smart, but with the biggest heart," Trump said on Truth Social. "He gave an absolutely electric speech at the Republican National Convention, that was one of the highlights of the entire week."

"He entertained fans from all over the World, and the cultural impact he had was massive. To his wife, Sky, and family, we give our warmest best wishes and love. Hulk Hogan will be greatly missed!"

Hollywood and the sports world are mourning the sudden death of Hulk Hogan, who passed away Thursday after going into cardiac arrest at his Florida home.

Leading the tributes pouring in across social media is the WWE, which says they're "saddened" by the loss of "one of pop culture's most recognizable figures." As you know, the legendary athlete brought WWE into the mainstream back in 1985 during the first WrestleMania.

Sylvester Stallone -- who starred in 'Rocky III" alongside HH -- posted on IG Thursday, saying, "He was absolutely wonderful and his amazing skill made Rocky three incredibly special. My heart breaks."

Dolphins offensive lineman Bayron Matos remains hospitalized after he was airlifted to a treatment facility following a medical emergency during Wednesday's training camp practice ... with his agent saying he will undergo more tests to determine what exactly happened.

Matos' rep, Perlesta Hollingsworth, told the Miami Herald the 24-year-old has "an above the shoulder type injury," but it is unclear what exactly that means.

Hollingsworth did note he has "some but not full movement in his right leg."

7/24 -- 7:30 AM PT -- Milford Police confirmed to TMZ Sports that Eliezer Rosario Lebron, 19, was charged with assault and battery. He is a player on the East Springfield team.

A spectator, 17, was also charged with assault, disturbing the peace, and affray.

Two individuals involved in the violent brawl at a Massachusetts youth baseball game are expected to be charged for their actions, police confirmed to TMZ Sports.

The Milford Police Department relayed the update on Wednesday ... less than two days after the shocking fight between the crowd and players at the Milford Post 59 and East Springfield game at Fino Field.

The melee was caught on a MyMilfordTV livestream, showing a spectator who was heckling players run onto the field to throw hands with the East Springfield team.

Texas A&M's live mascot, Reveille X, underwent surgery Wednesday to remove one of her eyes ... but, thankfully, the university said the procedure went well and she's now at home "resting comfortably."

TAMU president Mark A. Welsh III announced in a statement the collie had been having "discomfort and cloudiness in her right eye," and after vets checked it out, they determined an operation was the best course of action.

"I’m grateful to report that Miss Rev has come through the surgery successfully," Welsh III said ... before adding she's "been discharged and is resting comfortably."

Memphis Grizzlies star Zach Edey -- the 7-foot-4 phenom -- cut a deal with prosecutors on Wednesday to close out his reckless driving case, TMZ Sports has learned.

Court records we obtained show the 23-year-old admitted to a speeding infraction and agreed to pay $639.50 ... and in exchange, officials dropped the misdemeanor reckless driving charge he had been facing.

The case stemmed from a May 1 encounter the basketball player had with Indiana State Police in West Lafayette.
