LeBron James claims he isn't going to continue his NBA career just to have the chance to play with both of his sons -- the Lakers superstar revealed his retirement plans don't revolve around Bryce.

The 21-time All-Star discussed his basketball future at media day a few minutes ago ... when a reporter asked James if he'd hold out on retiring to have a chance to play alongside his second-oldest kid, who's gearing up for his freshman year with the University of Arizona basketball team this fall.

"I'm not sitting here ... no, I'm not waiting on Bryce," James laughed.

John Mara, the longtime owner of the New York Giants, just announced he was diagnosed with cancer ... while vowing to fight like hell and beat the disease.

70-year-old Mara, who also serves as president and CEO of the organization, did not specify which form of cancer he's battling.

"I have recently been diagnosed with cancer and have been following the treatment plan recommended by an outstanding team of doctors," Mara said in a statement released by Big Blue.

The hottest team in MLB had a fitting celebration after clinching the AL Central championship on Sunday -- the Cleveland Guardians ripped heaters right in the locker room to cap off one of the wildest Septembers in league history!!

The Guards -- who were 15 1/2 games back on the Detroit Tigers for the division lead in July -- were finally able to celebrate their playoff berth following Sunday's walk-off victory over the Texas Rangers ... and while there was plenty of Miller Lites for the postgame festivities, there were also some Marlboros sprinkled throughout the bash, too.

Video is circulating online showing the boxer slowly unbuckling his seatbelt, opening his door and stepping out of the car ... while an officer at his window holds a flashlight in one hand and a gun in the other.

The officer repeatedly tells Crawford to step out ... and, he replies at one point, "I ain't reaching for no gun" -- with his hands up the whole time.
